Course Policies
Instructor Policies It is vitally important that you become very familiar with the Cosmetology Policies. It is your responsability to become familiar with these policies and abide by them at all times. Failure to abide by these policies can result in your removal from this program.
Attendance Policy ATTENDANCE POLICY

Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.

In reality, there are no excused absences in Cosmetology. TDLR requires that a student can only acquire credit/clock hours if they are under the direction of a licensed Cosmetology instructor and show proof of their attendance.
Students should make every attempt to be on time and in class each day.
It?s the student?s responsibility to make up assignments missed.

Students may clock in as soon as the clock is turned on until 8 a.m.

Students are tardy at 8:01 a.m. Students who are tardy will not be allowed to clock in until AFTER FIRST BREAK at 9:45 a.m.

Tardy students will be counted absent at 9:46 a.m.

A.M. absences may NOT clock until 12:00 p.m., unless authorized by an instructor.
Upon clocking in, the student must check in with their instructor for any assignments missed.

The time clock is used for TDLR attendance verification. Each student is assigned a code to clock in; it is your responsibility to clock in and out each day.
No student may clock in or out for another.

Students must clock out for their 30 minute lunch break.
Failure to clock out and in after break or lunch may result in an absence.
Students not clocking out for lunch will be in violation and disciplinary action will be taken.

Students are responsible for all materials covered in class. If you quit coming to class and do not officially withdraw, your grades will be averaged, and you will receive the grade represented by this average.
Administrative details are your responsibility.

Make-up exams will NOT be given. Any missed exam due to an Excused Absence Only, will be replaced with your lowest unit exam grade. This replacement is only allowed once per class. Final exams are exempt, students must be present for all final exams.

Students are allotted ONE Excused Absence per class, due to medical emergency ONLY. Documentation from a physician will be required your upon return, for medical and family emergencies in order to substitute the score for missed exam.

Excused absences include medical and family emergencies and are determined at the instructor's discretion.
